EDWARDS HIRES CONSULTING GROUP. We first reported two weeks ago that former state Liquor Commission Enforcement and Licensing Director and South Hampton Police Chief Eddie Edwards was strongly considering running for the 1st District U.S. House seat and that he was in discussion with veteran GOP operative Michael Biundo.
We’ve now learned that Edwards and RightVoter LLC, a political consulting firm co-founded and headed by Biundo, have reached an agreement under which the firm will work with Edwards and advise him on an informal basis as he moves through the preliminary stage of exploring a 2018 candidacy.
Biundo and his three partners at RightVoter LLC have experience in GOP campaigns in the 1st Congressional District. Biundo ran former U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta’s campaigns for Manchester mayor in 2005 and 2007 as well as Guinta’s first congressional campaign in 2010.
Partner Derek Dufresne was Guinta’s 2010 campaign field manager and congressional office communications director and legislative assistant from 2011-2012. He was Guinta’s campaign manager and spokesman in the 2012 campaign, which Guinta lost to U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, and an intern in Guinta’s mayoral office in from 2006-2009.
Partner Kory Wood served as legislative assistant and budget associate in Guinta’s federal office during the 112th Congress, was Guinta’s campaign manager in 2012 and was field manager for Guinta’s successful congressional campaign in 2010.
Partner Andrew Boucher was executive director of the New Hampshire Republican Party from 1998-1999.
“The RightVoter team has a long and successful history in this district,” Biundo said. “We know that with a strong conservative candidate and the right team, the 1st Congressional District seat is very winnable.
“After spending time with Eddie, we believe he has the right message and the dedicated work ethic necessary to build a campaign that can defeat Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter,” Biundo said. “While there is still a lot of planning to do and groundwork that needs to be laid in the coming weeks and months, if Eddie decides to run, we will certainly be in his corner.”
